Synopsis

Pastel G-Linn is an earnest young poet and mapper who serves as the sensible leader of a humble, chronically unlucky fantasy adventuring party. Alongside rash swordsman Clay, uncoordinated thief Trap, gentle priest Norman, gluttonous baby dragon Shiro, and armored giant Rumy, the group struggles to complete mundane dungeon quests and repay accumulating tavern debts. Lacking heroic destinies or divine powers, the close-knit party relies on quick thinking, humorous bluffs, and genuine loyalty to survive treacherous monster encounters and eccentric rival adventurers. Through lighthearted comedic escapades, the companions discover that true treasure lies in shared laughter and friendship.

Background (may contain spoilers)

Produced by studio E&G Films and directed by Takaaki Ishiyama, *Fortune Quest L* is a 26-episode television anime adapting the classic comedic fantasy light novel series written by Mishio Fukazawa and illustrated by Natsumi Mukai. Broadcasting on TV Tokyo from October 1997 to May 1998, the series expanded upon the popular 1993 OVA releases with a fully fleshed-out serialized narrative. The production charmed 1990s anime fans with its warm, nostalgic tabletop RPG atmosphere, gentle character humor, and memorable opening theme Good Fine Everyday performed by Susumu Kajiwara.
