Synopsis

The sacred magical staff known as Dragon Cry, an ancient artifact infused with the wrath and crystallized tears of dragons slain in antiquity, is stolen from the Kingdom of Fiore by traitorous rogue Zash Caine. Zash delivers the staff to King Animus of the island kingdom of Stella, who intends to harness its apocalyptic power. Hired by the Fiore royal court to recover the relic, the Fairy Tail guild's strongest team, including Natsu Dragneel, Lucy Heartfilia, Gray Fullbuster, Erza Scarlet, Wendy Marvell, Happy, and Carla, infiltrates the fortified coastal kingdom of Stella.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
The Fairy Tail wizards discover that King Animus is possessed by the spirit of the dragon Animus, who needs Dragon Cry's magic to restore his physical dragon body. When Animus absorbs the staff and begins incinerating Stella, Natsu's half-dragon physiology awakens, transforming him into a monstrous half-dragon demon with a scaly wing and crimson horns. Natsu overpowers Animus with an earth-shattering Fire Dragon Roar, shattering the dragon and Dragon Cry. Stella's princess Sonya uses the remaining stardust to heal her wounded kingdom, while Natsu's friends embrace him, reassuring him of his human heart.
