Six months after Akira Takizawa saved Japan from sixty missile strikes and used his Selecao phone to crown himself the King of Japan, he abruptly erased his own memories and vanished overseas. Desperate to reunite with him, Saki Morimi travels to New York City following clues embedded in a digital audio message left on her phone. Meanwhile in Japan, the murderous Selecao game orchestrated by Mr. Outside intensifies, with remaining players using their billions of yen to sabotage society and eliminate rivals. Saki tracks Takizawa through Manhattan, finding him with fresh amnesia and a new passport.
⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Saki helps Takizawa avoid assassination by Selecao Number 6, industrialist Jintaro Tsuji, who plots to collapse Japan's economy. Takizawa recovers his Nobesse Oblige smartphone, realizing that before wiping his memories, he entrusted his original phone to an American hacker to preserve his funds. Uncovering that the mysterious Mr. Outside is elderly transportation tycoon Ato Saizo, Takizawa uses his phone to print legal bills, securing safe return passage for thousands of NEET youth. Takizawa and Saki board an airliner back to Tokyo to confront the conspiracy directly.
A fairly weak three stars, and those who haven't seen the original just shouldn't bother. This has good material, if not quite enough of it, but it really should have been made into another television series.
