Story
Synopsis
Kaitou Kid announces a heist targeting a jewel aboard a massive experimental airship, which puts Conan on board alongside a substantial portion of the recurring cast. Then a terrorist group seizes the vessel and releases a lethal virus, turning a heist story into a containment crisis with no possibility of outside assistance. Conan has to identify the culprit, manage the outbreak, and keep an airship full of people alive, with Kid proving considerably more useful as an ally than an adversary. Every passenger becomes a suspect once the outbreak makes leaving completely impossible.

The fourteenth Detective Conan film, based on Gosho Aoyama's manga, The Lost Ship in the Sky pairs Conan with Kaitou Kid, the gentleman thief from Aoyama's earlier series Magic Kaito, whose appearances are consistently among the most popular in the film franchise. The annual Conan release remains one of the most commercially reliable properties in Japanese cinema, and entries combining Kid's showmanship with genuine large-scale peril tend to rank highly among longtime viewers. Its combination of heist spectacle and genuine biological threat gave the film unusual tension, and the confined airship setting suits the franchise's deduction structure well.
