Story

Synopsis

In a mystical realm hidden beneath the human ocean, spiritual beings govern the natural order and human souls. As part of her coming-of-age ritual, sixteen-year-old Chun transforms into a red dolphin to explore the human mortal realm. Caught in a fishing net during a fierce storm, Chun is rescued by a gentle human boy who drowns in the process. Overwhelmed by guilt, Chun strikes a perilous bargain with the cunning Soul Keeper, trading half of her lifespan to resurrect the boy's soul as a tiny magical fish named Kun, hiding him from the elders of her realm.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Chun's childhood friend Qiu helps her hide Kun, even as Kun's unnatural growth causes cosmic weather catastrophes, unleashing floods and frozen skies upon their spirit village. The elders attempt to kill Kun to save the realm. Chun sacrifices her life, fusing with a giant begonia tree to halt the cataclysmic deluge. Qiu secretly trades his entire remaining existence to the Soul Keeper to resurrect Chun and grant her immortality. Qiu teleports Chun and a fully grown Kun to the human mortal world, where they wash ashore as naked humans to begin life together.
