Story

Synopsis

Four centuries after the fall of modern technological civilization, the Kingdom of Metallicana faces impending destruction by the Four Divine Kings, who plot to resurrect Anthrasax, the god of destruction. In desperate desperation, High Priest Geo tasks his daughter Yoko with performing a sacred seal-breaking kiss on fourteen-year-old orphan Luche Renren. The ritual awakens Dark Schneider, an arrogant, immensely powerful four-hundred-year-old dark wizard. Brandishing earth-shattering elemental spells, relentless lust, and unmatched arrogance, Dark Schneider unleashes devastating magical fury against his former disciples, defending the kingdom on his own egocentric terms.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Based on Kazushi Hagiwara's legendary dark fantasy manga serialized in *Weekly Shounen Jump*, this high-octane reboot was animated by LIDENFILMS and directed by Takaharu Ozaki. Released worldwide on Netflix on June 30, 2022, the thirteen-episode first part paid homage to 1980s heavy metal culture with explosive spell battles, vibrant rock aesthetics, and hard-rock musical themes by Yasuharu Takanashi and coldrain. Its worldwide success led to a subsequent cour completing the kingdom arc and a second season in 2023.
