Synopsis
Having qualified for the prestigious Inter-High men's rhythmic gymnastics tournament, the six dedicated boys of Ao High School's gymnastics club travel to Tokyo for their final national competition. Novice gymnast Shotaro Futaba, prodigy Ryoya Misato, and their graduating senior teammates Masamune Shichigahama, Keisuke Tsukidate, and Nagayoshi Onagawa must execute a flawless, synchronized three-minute routine. With their beloved third-years facing impending graduation and severe injuries threatening to undermine their performance, the team must channel months of rigorous physical training and mutual trust into an extraordinary routine that defies gravity.
⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
During their final team rehearsal, Shotaro's wrist injury flares up, and Captain Shichigahama struggles with ankle pain, but the boys refuse to simplify their difficult choreography. Taking the arena floor before judges and rival powerhouse Shiro High, Ao High delivers a breathtaking, synchronized six-man routine that earns a thunderous standing ovation and their highest competitive score ever. Though they finish in a close second place behind Shiro High, the boys celebrate with joyful tears. The seniors tearfully pass the captaincy to Ryoya, while Shotaro vows to lead Ao High back to nationals next year.
