Spirited Away is a dark and rhythmic movie. It has a tone and a theme that sometimes invites you in, but also pulls you farther away from what a dream could be. Though it's a dreaming world, you see everything you try to understand in it. But at the same time, it's a very childish dream. Do you understand how a person gets lost in it? How okay it feels, growing into certain beliefs?
Spirited Away struck me to my core, seeing this movie in such a surrealistic manner and understanding the trouble and trauma a child could go through, even in their childhood, even when they're dreaming. This is a phenomenal film, and obviously, award-worthy cinema.

There is no doubt that Makoto Shinkai is a phenomenal director, and you see that in his films. There isn't just emotion; there is reality. There's a sort of presence that connects you with this world. Although you realize that every story is definitely fake, definitely something inspired from elsewhere, the way the animation falls around everything, the reality, the tension, and the quality of the animation is so, so profound and so, so brilliant that it almost feels like every scene, every shot the guy has taken of this anime, is almost real, like it might have been vectorized from something that actually exists.
But it's beautiful how this movie unfolds like a dream. And I think that's the purpose of this entire film: to keep us inspired in our dreams, to believe in our dreams. And I see that now.

Hunter x Hunter 2011 · 2026-08-18

I've been watching this anime for probably a very long time. And one of the things I really, really like about it is that it has this very emotional nostalgia around it. But I kind of think this anime could do better in terms of where it's stuck right now. I mean, the entire show is on hiatus, and I have no idea when it's coming back, if it's coming back soon or not at all. But I really love the storytelling of this anime, and how child-centric it is, how powerful the story is.
It also reminds me of One Piece at some point, because it has this dream where a son is looking for his father, and there's a whole journey built around it where everybody goes on their own path. There's passion. There's challenge. There's politics. It has a lot of elements that feel inspired from real life. And at the same time, I feel it's very strange, strange in a way that, at the crux of it, we, as human beings in society, are all hunters. We're all looking for something to have an adventure with. And that's it. That's pretty much it.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End 2023 · 2026-08-18

This is one of the most promising anime I've seen in terms of storytelling. Frieren has a very unique perspective, a very unique idea, and something that's almost a miss across all the anime I've watched. It has a grounded, deep-rooted emotional storytelling that goes beyond what we usually imagine as "traditional anime." It has nuance. It has emotion. It has a kind of drama that's missing from most action, emotional, or comedic anime I've seen. The animation quality is obviously spectacular, and one of the things I really, really love is the music and direction of this anime. It left me speechless, and I sat with the idea long after, left with a very profound emotion after watching it. It has a soothing, calming presence, and something I'll probably remember for a very long time.

I think this is maybe my problem or something. I watched the episode till season one, but then I lost interest in it. I am sure the anime and the storyline are promising, and people really love it, but I don't know why I got bored with it. This was a nice start, but I'm reluctant to start again, so I'm stuck at season 2. :/

There is no doubt that the anime's animation quality is not good; it is absolutely mind-blowing. I have been watching this anime since 2019, and it has never seemed to disappoint; it is one of the finest stories so far. Not gonna claim that I'm a super fan or anything, but I have a Hanafuda earring pendant in my accessories box. :P
