Story

Synopsis

Nagisa Yukiai, a high school girl in the Shonan area, believes in kotodama, the spirit that lives in words. She is impatient and has no idea what she wants to do with her life. One day she wanders into a small FM radio station that has sat unused for years and, on impulse, tries her hand at being a DJ. Her broadcast reaches someone she never expected. Nagisa and five other girls bring the station back to life and use their voices to send their thoughts out to their seaside town.

Your Voice -KIMIKOE- is an original film from Madhouse, directed by Naoyuki Itou, whose credits include the Pretty Cure series and a One Piece theatrical film. Its six main characters are voiced by first-time voice actors who were chosen from about 3,000 contestants in the Kimikoe Project audition. They also formed the unit NOW ON AIR, which debuted through Lantis and performs the ending theme, Kibou no Kakera. The film opened in Japan in August 2017, was a Jury Selection in the Animation Division of the 21st Japan Media Arts Festival, and screened at the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in 2017.
