Story

Synopsis

Zhuge Liang Kongming, the legendary military strategist of Three Kingdoms China, dies of illness at the Battle of Wuzhang Plains in 234 AD, wishing with his dying breath to be reborn into an era of peace. Instead, he awakens in modern Shibuya on Halloween night, rejuvenated into his youthful twenty-something body. Mistaking the costumed revelers for demons, Kongming wanders into a nightclub and is captivated by the singing of aspiring indie vocalist Eiko Tsukimi. Pledging his tactical brilliance to her music career, Kongming serves as Eiko's manager, deploying ancient Chinese warfare tactics to conquer Tokyo's music industry.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
P.A. Works animated this exuberant twelve-episode musical comedy series, which aired during the spring 2022 season. Directed by Shuu Honma and written by Yoko Yonaiyama, the anime adapts Yuto Yotsuba and Ryo Ogawa's hit manga. The production became a global viral sensation thanks to its addictive, Eurobeat-fueled opening theme song Chiki Chiki Bam Bam performed by QUEENDOM, which spawned viral dance trends worldwide. Praised for its brilliant tactical humor, exhilarating club beats, and heartfelt celebration of artistic ambition, the series stands as one of the freshest and most uplifting musical anime of recent years.
