Hotheaded teenager Shiki Ichinose has always felt out of place, spending his days skipping class and obsessing over firearms while living with his protective foster father Tsuyoshi. His ordinary delinquent existence shatters when an elite operative from the Momotaro Agency attacks their home. During the lethal assault, Tsuyoshi reveals a shocking truth before sacrificing himself: Shiki carries the demonic blood of the Oni, while Tsuyoshi was once a Momotaro warrior who raised him in secret. Rescued by teacher Naito Mudano, Shiki enrolls at Rasetsu Academy, mastering blood manipulation techniques alongside fellow Oni outcasts to avenge his guardian.

Adapted from Yura Urushibara's dark fantasy manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion since June 2020, *Tougen Anki* inverts traditional Japanese folklore regarding the hero Momotaro and the monstrous Oni. Produced by Studio Hibari, the twenty-four episode television adaptation began airing in July 2025. The production gained widespread attention among shonen enthusiasts for its visceral blood-fueled combat choreography, stylized urban aesthetic, and gritty moral conflict that reinterprets mythical heroes as ruthless persecutors and marginalized demons as desperate freedom fighters striving for survival.
