Synopsis
College student Zhang Chulan longs for a completely ordinary, quiet civilian life. His peaceful existence shatters when his grandfather's cemetery grave is vandalized, and he is ambushed in the graveyard by hungry zombies. Rescued by Feng Baobao, an eccentric girl wielding kitchen cleavers, Chulan is thrust into the dangerous underground world of Inhumans, people who can manipulate mystical Qi energy. Chulan discovers that his late grandfather passed down the secret martial art of the Golden Light and the legendary Heavenly Net technique. Targeted by competing martial sects, corporate mercenaries, and ancient syndicates, Chulan must drop his cowardly facade to unravel the mystery of his grandfather's past.

The Outcast (known in Chinese as Yi Ren Zhi Xia and in Japanese as Hitori no Shita: The Outcast) adapts the celebrated martial arts supernatural web manhua created by Mi Er and serialized on Tencent Comic. Co-produced by Tencent Animation and Comics with animation studio Pandanium, the first season debuted in 2016, airing simultaneously in China and on Tokyo MX in Japan. Renowned for its blend of authentic Taoist mysticism, modern crime drama, and kinetic kung fu choreography, the franchise became one of the most successful donghua exports of its generation.
