Synopsis

High school student Kasumi Kishimoto resides at her aunt boarding house, sharing daily domestic life alongside four eccentric male students, including undisciplined baseball enthusiast Yusaku Takasugi. Kasumi has long been devoted to her steady boyfriend Katsuhiko, who departs for the United States to pursue professional automotive racing. Over two years of long-distance separation, Kasumi and Yusaku bond deeply through shared household chores, athletic triumphs, and unspoken emotional companionship. When Katsuhiko returns to Japan proposing marriage, Kasumi must examine her true heart to choose between past promises and genuine contemporary love.

Released theatrically in October 1988 by Group TAC and directed by Kimiharu Oguma, this charming coming-of-age romantic drama serves as the theatrical finale to the 1987 television adaptation of Mitsuru Adachi popular manga. Famous for Adachi signature bittersweet storytelling, understated romantic dialogue, and nostalgic baseball motifs, the film provides closure to the central romantic dilemma. Featuring lush watercolor background art and gentle eighties pop melodies, the production is cherished by shojo and sports romance fans for its delicate emotional maturity.
