Synopsis
In an alternate nineteenth-century Victorian Britain driven by steam power, brilliant young Manchester inventor Ray Steam spends his days crafting mechanical contraptions. His life changes forever when he receives a mysterious package from his grandfather in America containing a Steam Ball, an extraordinary sphere capable of storing limitless pressurized energy. Pursued by agents of the ruthless O'Hara Foundation, Ray flees to London ahead of the Great Exhibition. Discovering that his father and grandfather have been co-opted into constructing massive steam-powered warmachines for international arms dealers, Ray must master the device to prevent London from becoming an apocalyptic battlefield.

Energetic, but soulless, Steamboy succeeds only in impressing with its visuals, as the plot and characters are utterly forgettable. If you can ignore the plot and characters and watch this just for the steampunk factor, you can add another star.
