Story
Synopsis
After Cygnus Hyoga mysteriously disappears while conducting investigations across arctic Siberia, Saori Kido leads Pegasus Seiya, Shiryu, and Shun to the frozen northern realm of Asgard. There, Lord Dolbar, high priest and human incarnation of the Norse god Odin, schemes to conquer Sanctuary and submerge warmer southern lands beneath arctic blizzards. Dolbar imprisons Athena within the dimensional Odin Shield, forcing the Bronze Saints into life-or-death duels against formidable God Warriors across treacherous glaciers. Facing brainwashed Hyoga and ruthless warriors, Seiya awakens the Sagittarius armor to shatter Dolbar frozen ambitions.
⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Released theatrically in March 1988 under the direction of Shigeyasu Yamauchi at Toei Animation, this second *Saint Seiya* motion picture adapted Norse mythology into the series cosmos. The film dynamic combat set-pieces and icy Nordic visual design were so popular among Japanese television producers that Toei Animation expanded the premise into the canonical 26-episode Asgard television filler arc later that year. The production remains celebrated for its fluid hand-drawn fight choreography and emotional dramatic stakes.
