Story

Synopsis

High school student and aspiring illustrator Souta Mizushino is sketching in his bedroom when he is suddenly transported into an episode of his favorite fantasy anime series. Returning to reality seconds later, he discovers that the anime's noble mecha-piloting heroine, Selesia Upitiria, has crossed into the real world alongside him. Soon, numerous iconic protagonists and villains from popular light novels, video games, and manga manifest across Tokyo. Led by a mysterious military-uniformed maiden named Altair, these fictional creations seek out their human authors, demanding answers, rewriting cosmic rules, and waging ideological warfare over humanity's fragile reality.

Studio TROYCA animated this ambitious twenty-two-episode original anime series, broadcast in spring and summer 2017. The project was conceived by renowned manga creator Rei Hiroe, author of *Black Lagoon*, and directed by Ei Aoki, celebrated for *Fate/Zero* and *Aldnoah.Zero*. Featuring an electrifying musical score by legendary composer Hiroyuki Sawano, the anime offered a profound meta-narrative deconstruction of the creative process. It earned strong praise for exploring the profound artistic bond between authors and their imaginary creations, contrasting cynical commercial publishing pressures with the genuine emotional power of shared storytelling.
