Synopsis

Sakuta Azusagawa's younger sister Kaede has spent two years confined to their apartment due to severe cyberbullying that triggered a dissociative fugue state and amnesia. Having finally regained her original childhood memories, Kaede loses the gentle, pandas-loving persona that Sakuta lovingly cared for during her illness. Eager to reclaim her independence and attend the same prestigious high school as Sakuta and his girlfriend Mai Sakurajima, Kaede drafts an ambitious checklist of personal goals. Sakuta quietly supports her journey, while wrestling with the heartbreaking reality that the Kaede who loved him as a shut-in has vanished forever.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Kaede pushes herself through anxiety attacks to take her high school entrance examinations at Minegahara, but the immense emotional pressure causes her to collapse, failing the physical examination on test day. Devastated, Kaede breaks down in Sakuta's arms, believing she failed to honor the memory of the alternate Kaede who worked so hard to step outside. Sakuta reassures her that her worth is not defined by matching other people's academic expectations. Kaede proudly accepts an offer from an online correspondence high school, stepping outside with genuine self-acceptance as she embraces her own unique future.
