Synopsis

Trapped inside Tokyo Jupiter, a secluded dimension where time flows at one-third the outside rate, high schooler Ayato Kamina believes all life beyond the barrier was eradicated. His reality dissolves when military forces invade the city, and an agent named Haruka Shitow helps him escape into the true world. There, Ayato discovers his mother belongs to the alien Mu race and awakens RahXephon, a colossal winged biomechanical entity that responds to vocal melodies. As apocalyptic multidimensional conflicts escalate, Ayato discovers that Haruka is his separated teenage lover, piloting the god-mecha to retune reality and restore love.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Written and directed by Tomoki Kyoda with supervision by series creator Yutaka Izubuchi, *RahXephon: Pluralitas Concentio* was released theatrically by Studio Bones in April 2003. Serving as a reimagined cinematic retelling of the acclaimed 2002 television anime, the feature reorganized the complex psychological narrative to center deeply on the tragic, time-displaced romance between Ayato and Haruka. Praised by mecha critics for its breathtaking mechanical combat, haunting musical motifs composed by Ichiko Hashimoto, and poignant emotional resolution, the film solidified *RahXephon* as a premier classic of early-2000s psychological science fiction.
