Story

Synopsis

In junior high baseball, the formidable battery of fireball pitcher Haruka Kiyomine and genius catcher Kei Kaname ruthlessly extinguished the athletic dreams of rival players across Japan. However, after graduating, Kei suffers complete amnesia, regressing into a goofy, baseball-hating amateur who loves terrible puns. Refusing prestigious athletic scouts, Haruka follows his broken partner to Kousetsu High, a completely unremarkable public school with no baseball pedigree. There, they inadvertently recruit former prodigy players they once crushed, who had also quit the sport. Together, the ragtag club slowly works to reignite Kei's lost baseball genius.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Adapted from Eko Mikawa's celebrated baseball manga serialized on Shonen Jump+, *Oblivion Battery* was animated by premier studio MAPPA and directed by Makoto Nakazono. Broadcasting twelve episodes in spring 2024 across TV Tokyo, the sports series received widespread critical acclaim for its fluid baseball animation, sharp physical comedy, and Mamoru Miyano's virtuoso voice performance as Kei Kaname. Following strong commercial success across domestic broadcasting blocks, a second television season was officially greenlit.
