At an ordinary high school, five teenage girls belonging to the school literature club gather for an awkward afternoon icebreaker discussion, pondering what single thing they want to experience before dying. When introverted member Saa Niina bluntly utters the word sex, the taboo proclamation sends shockwaves through the group. Shaken out of their innocent naivety, each girl, including timid Kazusa Onodera who struggles with complicated feelings for her handsome childhood friend, begins grappling with the embarrassing, painful realities of puberty. Their clumsy awakenings spark intense emotional turmoil, testing their fragile bonds of mutual friendship.

Adapted from the celebrated manga written by veteran anime screenwriter Mari Okada and illustrated by Nao Emoto, *O Maidens in Your Savage Season* aired as a twelve-episode television series produced by studio Lay-duce in summer 2019. Co-directed by Masahiro Ando and Takurou Tsukada with Okada penning the scripts, the anime received wide praise for its painfully honest, tender, and unvarnished depiction of adolescent female sexuality and emotional confusion. Its blend of comedic melodrama and empathetic vulnerability established it as an exceptional coming-of-age drama.
