Story

Synopsis

College student Akane Kinoshita is left devastated when her live-in boyfriend dumps her for a girl he met playing the online multiplayer role-playing game Forest of Savior. Venting her frustrations inside the game, Akane crosses paths with Yamada, an avatar wielding an afro mask who coldly dismisses her emotional venting. At an in-person gaming convention, Akane meets Yamada in the flesh, discovering he is Akito Yamada, an exceptionally handsome yet socially awkward high school esports prodigy. Despite his blunt demeanor and total disinterest in romance, Yamada's quiet kindness gradually heals Akane's wounded heart.

Madhouse animated this twelve-episode romantic comedy television series, which broadcast in spring 2023. Directed by veteran director Morio Asaka, legendary for *Cardcaptor Sakura*, *Nana*, and *Chihayafuru*, the anime adapts Mashiro's popular Ganma! web manga.
