Story

Synopsis

Torako Koshi has carefully engineered an image as the flawless, refined student council president at her high school, hiding her violent middle school delinquent past. Her perfect facade shatters on her morning commute when she rescues a bizarre girl with actual deer antlers caught tangled in overhead power lines. The eccentric creature introduces herself as Noko Shikanoko, immediately transfers into Torako class, and sniffs out her delinquent secret. Dragged into founding the bizarre school Deer Club, Torako is subjected to explosive deer cracker culinary experiments and surreal comedic chaos.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Adapted from the absurdist comedy manga by Oshioshio, *My Deer Friend Nokotan* was produced by Wit Studio and broadcast during the summer 2024 anime season. Directed by Masahiko Ohta with series composition by Takashi Aoshima, the anime generated enormous international viral attention across social media prior to release due to its hypnotic looped theme songs and manic non-sequitur humor. The production embraces pure unhinged slapstick, blending fourth-wall breaks, surreal deer trivia, and lively character expressions into an energetic parody of high school life.
