Story
Synopsis
Sensible, hardworking middle school student Yuzuka Hanami leads a thoroughly ordinary domestic life, taking pride in cooking family meals and maintaining flawless academic grades. Walking home through an alley one afternoon, she encounters Miton, an eccentric magical fairy mascot scavenging for food in a garbage pile. Desperate for employment in an era where evil monsters are virtually extinct, Miton begs Yuzuka to form a pact and become an elite magical heroine. Yuzuka reluctantly agrees, only to be mortified when her mystical transformation clothes her in an ordinary one-piece swimsuit, sparking unending embarrassment as she questions her bizarre magical obligations.
⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Adapted from the comedic web manga created by Sui Futami, *Mahou Shoujo Nante Mou Ii desu kara.* was produced by animation studio PINE JAM for television broadcast in winter 2016. Directed by Kazuhiro Yoneda, the short-form comedy gently satirized traditional magical girl anime conventions through deadpan humor, minimalist conflict, and Yuzuka's perpetual social embarrassment. The anime proved popular enough to spawn a second season later the same year, earning praise for its charming pastel art design, endearing character dynamics, and lighthearted escapism.
