Story

Synopsis

In the bustling district of N-City, millions of gamers enjoy Magical Girl Raising Project, a popular mobile role-playing game that grants one in ten thousand players real magical girl abilities. Middle schooler Koyuki Himekawa enthusiastically assumes the persona of Snow White, dedicating her nights to performing selfless community rescues. However, the game's sadistic mascot administrator Fav abruptly announces that local magical energy is depleted, demanding that sixteen active girls be halved. What begins as a peaceful points contest quickly spirals into a horrifying, bloodthirsty death game where eliminated girls perish in reality.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Adapted from Asato Endou's dark fantasy light novel series, *Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku* was animated by Lerche and broadcast in autumn 2016. Directed by Hiroyuki Hashimoto with series composition by Takao Yoshioka, the twelve-episode television series shocked audiences by subverting traditional magical girl conventions into a gripping battle royale psychological thriller. Featuring memorable performances by Nao Toyama and Manami Numakura, the anime garnered critical acclaim for its ruthless character stakes, shocking plot twists, and visceral urban combat choreography.
