In the whimsical fantasy kingdom of Jamjam, cowardly hero Nike and cheerful Migu Migu sorceress Kukuri set out on a lighthearted quest following rumors of the legendary Pickle of Happiness. Said to grant any wish to whoever eats it, the mystical delicacy rests atop a perilous mountain guarded by an ancient dragon. Joined by their eccentric old companions, including the loincloth-wearing Kita Kita Old Man, the bumbling duo must brave ridiculous dungeons, absurd monster ambushes, and Kukuri's wildly erratic magic circles. Turning traditional role-playing video game tropes into nonstop slapstick parodies, the companions strive to claim their snack.

Directed by Nobuaki Kishima and animated by Nippon Animation, *Magical Circle Guruguru Movie* was released in Japanese theaters in April 2004 as a thirty-minute comedy feature accompanying the *Dragon Quest* anime festival. Adapting Hiroyuki Eto's beloved gag fantasy manga, the film captured the retro 16-bit RPG satire that made the original television series a cult sensation. Praised for its rapid-fire parody humor, colorful video-game-inspired visual interface gags, and whimsical musical score, the movie delighted fans of classic JRPG parodies and reinforced Guruguru's enduring comedic charm.
