Kotaro, a rookie editor at a web news site, is sent to Komada Distillery to write about Japanese craft whisky. What he finds is a young president, Rui Komada, who has taken over the family business and has one stubborn goal: to remake KOMA, the whisky her grandfather and father kept alive and the distillery had to stop producing years ago. The money is thin, the family is divided, a natural disaster has left its mark, and too many clues to the original recipe are gone. So Rui, Kotaro and the people who back the distillery start gathering every thread they can find.

Komada: A Whisky Family (Komada Jouryuujo e Youkoso, literally "Welcome to the Komada Distillery") is an original film from P.A. Works, directed by Masayuki Yoshihara of The Eccentric Family. It is the fifth entry in the studio's "workplace" series, which started with Hanasaku Iroha and continued through Shirobako, Sakura Quest and The aquatope on white sand. Tomomi Takada drew the original character concepts, and Kosuke Kawatsura adapted them for animation and served as chief animation director. Saori Hayami voices Rui and sings the theme song, Dear my future. The film played at the Annecy festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival before opening in Japan in November 2023.
