Story
Synopsis
Serving as a prequel to the philosophical adventure franchise, this gentle theatrical featurette explores Kino's formative adolescent years before embarking on a lifelong journey of exploration. Living in a quiet country town, young Kino is taken under the wing of Master, a sharp-tongued, elderly female traveler who operates an eccentric wilderness cabin. Over the course of several seasons, Master instructs Kino in the rigorous fundamentals of wilderness survival, tactical firearm marksmanship, and the meticulous maintenance of the talking motorcycle Hermes, preparing the young traveler to navigate a complex, unpredictable world without prejudice.

Kino undergoes grueling target shooting drills with pistols and rifles, gradually understanding Master's core philosophy that a traveler must maintain situational neutrality rather than enforce personal justice upon strangers. When Kino successfully disassembles and reassembles Hermes's carburetor and earns Master's silent approval during a live target test, Master bestows Kino with her signature revolver Cannon. Bidding farewell to Master and her fellow apprentice, Kino kick-starts Hermes and rides off down the open forest highway, formally establishing the nomadic traveling routine of staying in each country for precisely three days and no more.
