Synopsis

When a bizarre zombie outbreak suddenly brings modern urban society to a chaotic standstill, eccentric high school youth Ren refuses to let the apocalypse ruin his cheerful daily routine. Armed with an upbeat attitude, a durable smartphone, and an inexplicable fondness for horror cinema, Ren takes to social media to document his bizarre post-apocalyptic road trip. Believing firmly that there must be gentle, misunderstood zombies capable of becoming fun roommates, he travels across ruined shopping malls and deserted streets posting daily survival vlogs. Navigating chaotic encounters with eccentric survivors and quirky undead wanderers, Ren turns apocalypse survival into comedy.

Background (may contain spoilers)

Conceived as an original horror-comedy television anime series, *#Zombie Sagashitemasu* was slated for broadcast premiere in 2026. The production brings an irreverent, social-media-infused pop-art aesthetic to classic zombie survival tropes across contemporary Japanese cityscapes. By combining vibrant street fashion designs, fast-paced slapstick visual gags, and affectionate nods to vintage zombie cinema, the anime delivers an energetic, feel-good comedy celebrating human optimism, creative content creation, and unexpected supernatural companionship in the face of societal collapse.
