Synopsis

Continuing the desperate struggle for coexistence between humankind and the alien Festum, the beleaguered island of Tatsumiyajima faces relentless assaults from hostile military coalitions and evolved alien hive minds. Young pilot Soushi Minashiro struggles to reconcile the heavy memories of his predecessor while commanding the formidable Fafner Mark Nicht in brutal aerial skirmishes. With planetary resources depleted and the islanders pushed toward systemic collapse, the frontline combatants must endure severe physiological assimilation penalties as enemy forces converge to capture the sacred core that sustains their sanctuary's defensive barrier.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
The third theatrical installment reaches a harrowing climax as human military forces deploy heavily corrupted salvage units to breach Tatsumiyajima's inner harbor. Soushi harnesses Mark Nicht's volatile assimilation abilities to shatter the enemy vanguard, but the defense costs several veteran pilots their lives as their physical bodies succumb to crystallization. Soushi accepts his true destiny as the successor to the core's will, resolving to guide Tatsumiyajima into the decisive final encounter that will determine whether human and Festum consciousness can peacefully merge. His painful acceptance of loss establishes the emotional foundation required to protect the sanctuary's next generation of pilots.
