Serving as the definitive conclusion to Kenji Kamiyama's acclaimed political thriller, Akira Takizawa and Saki Morimi return to Japan to face the final endgame of the Selecao competition. With remaining Selecao players launching economic warfare, cyber-attacks, and media smear campaigns to eliminate rivals, Takizawa must use his remaining digital billions to fulfill his mission of saving Japan without falling into totalitarian fascism. Collaborating with the Eden of the East college club and their facial recognition network, Takizawa seeks the reclusive mastermind Mr. Outside to terminate the game once and for all.
⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Takizawa discovers that Mr. Outside is indeed transportation mogul Saizo Ato, and that Takizawa himself is Ato's illegitimate son. Rogue player Jintaro Tsuji attempts to assassinate Takizawa using cruise missiles, but Takizawa's college comrades hack the missile guidance systems. For his final command to Juiz, Takizawa requests to become the King of Japan, not as a dictator, but as a symbolic figurehead who declares every citizen a king responsible for their own destiny. With his funds depleted, Takizawa slips away into the crowd, leaving Saki with a heartfelt kiss and a hopeful future.
