Synopsis
Grief-stricken after the tragic murder of his beloved soulmate, Nian Yangxiao discovers a metaphysical portal leading into an alternate parallel universe reminiscent of 1930s Shanghai. In this shadowy dimension divided by ruthless triad syndicates and corrupt municipal officials, his lover is still alive but marked for imminent assassination. Awakening an extraordinary supernatural gift that allows him to temporarily freeze time, Yangxiao navigates dangerous mob territory. Racing against an unforgiving clock, he must identify the mysterious assassin bearing a distinct tattoo before his lover's destiny is irrevocably sealed.

Produced as part of Rocen's critically acclaimed *Hua Jianghu* donghua universe, *Hua Jianghu: Huan Shi Men Sheng* premiered in autumn 2017. Spanning twenty full-length episodes, the 3D action series stood out from traditional ancient wuxia by adopting a stylish alternate-history Republican era setting complete with vintage roadsters, tommy guns, and martial art brawls. Praised for its intricate time-dilation combat sequences, suspenseful neo-noir mystery, and mature emotional stakes, the series earned high acclaim.
