Synopsis

In the distant future, interstellar explorers from Earth discover that the aggressive alien planet Pasatorine is preparing a mysterious invasion dubbed the Cleopatra Plan. Perplexed by the ancient Terran moniker, military scientists project the digitized consciousnesses of three modern operatives backward through time to ancient Alexandria. Entering classical Egypt, they observe the seductive queen Cleopatra, who undergoes sensual physical transformations to captivate Roman conqueror Julius Caesar and his fiery general Marc Antony. As imperial Roman intrigue and royal palace conspiracies unfold, the time travelers uncover surprising parallels connecting ancient sexuality with galactic conquest.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Mushi Production created this groundbreaking adult animated fantasy feature, released theatrically by Nippon Herald Films in September 1970. Conceived and co-directed by manga pioneer Osamu Tezuka alongside Eiichi Yamamoto, the film served as the second entry in Tezuka's revolutionary Animerama trilogy, succeeding 1969's *A Thousand and One Nights*. Combining avant-garde pop art, live-action footage overlays, psychedelic eroticism, and historical spoof, the movie broke new artistic boundaries for mature Japanese animation. Isao Tomita composed the avant-garde psychedelic musical score, making the production a milestone in 1970s experimental cinema.
