Synopsis
Produced under the professional guidance of the Central Meteorological Observatory of Japan, this informative educational animated film introduces elementary students to the fundamental scientific principles governing atmospheric weather phenomena. Through vivid anthropomorphic illustrations, friendly animated weather sprites representing sun rays, raindrops, cold air masses, and warm fronts explain the complex mechanics of evaporation, condensation, and cloud formation. Following a curious brother and sister who visit a weather research station, the film demonstrates how barometers, thermometers, and anemometers measure changing atmospheric pressures to predict seasonal typhoons and protect communities.
Background (may contain spoilers)
When a severe seasonal thunderstorm approaches their rural village, the children apply their newly acquired meteorological knowledge to observe rapidly dropping barometric pressure and towering cumulonimbus clouds. Quickly alerting their neighbors and schoolteachers, they help secure outdoor livestock and reinforce drainage ditches along the riverbank before heavy rain begins. The prompt evacuation and preventive preparations save the village from localized flash flooding. Commended by the observatory's chief meteorologist, the children receive honorary junior meteorologist certificates, inspiring their peers to appreciate the vital importance of scientific observation and environmental preparedness.
