Story
Synopsis
In a dystopian cyberpunk future, Kansai became a ruined vassal state to the totalitarian ruling region of Kanto following a devastating civil war. Within this neon-drenched metropolis, elite rogue criminals known as Akudama operate outside the law. An ordinary young woman running an errand at a police station is mistakenly branded as a master swindler after getting caught up in a hostage situation. Blackmailed alongside six psychopathic elite criminals, including a ruthless brawler, a deranged doctor, and an acrobatic hacker, she must participate in a suicide heist on the heavily guarded Shinkansen bullet train to survive.

Studio Pierrot animated this thrilling original twelve-episode cyberpunk action series, which aired during the fall 2020 season. The show was conceived through a high-profile creative collaboration between *Danganronpa* franchise creator Kazutaka Kodaka and director Tomohisa Taguchi, famous for *Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War*. Character designs were crafted by Rui Komatsuzaki. Heavily inspired by Western crime cinema such as *Reservoir Dogs* and *Pulp Fiction*, the anime earned widespread praise for its relentless kinetic pacing, hyper-stylized neon art direction, thrilling action set-pieces, and unapologetically rebellious anti-authoritarian narrative climax.
