In a surreal feudal Japan fused with futuristic technology, divine rulership belongs to whoever possesses the coveted Number One headband, an artifact granting godlike authority that can only be challenged by the wearer of the Number Two headband. After witnessing his father decapitation as a young boy, stoic swordsman Afro claims the Number Two headband and embarks on a relentless path of bloody vengeance. Constantly hunted by bounty hunters, cyborg monks, and assassin cults, Afro cuts down all challengers alongside his talkative imaginary companion Ninja Ninja, advancing toward a final confrontation with Justice.

“But if you're easily disturbed or disquieted, it's one to avoid. It's a dark story with an unhappy ending where the ends, bleak and harsh and cruel as they are, justify the means.”
