Jean Otus, the cigarette-smoking vice-chairman of the Inspection Department, travels constantly between the distinct districts to audit regional offices and monitor potential corruption. When whispers of an impending coup d'etat against the royal crown begin circulating, Jean finds himself shadowed by secret police and entangled in delicate political conspiracies. Enjoying regional pastries and fine cigarettes along his inspection route, the enigmatic inspector must decipher hidden loyalties before the country fractures into civil unrest.

Madhouse animated this twelve-episode political mystery anime, which broadcast during the winter 2017 season. Directed by Shingo Natsume, celebrated for *One-Punch Man* and *Sonny Boy*, the series adapted the sophisticated manga created by Natsume Ono. Featuring stylish character designs by Norifumi Kugai and a suave, jazz-infused musical score by Ryo Takahashi, the production won critical praise for its deliberate, atmospheric storytelling. The anime distinguished itself by subverting conventional spy thrillers, favoring quiet intellectual intrigue, mouthwatering culinary interludes, and subtle character body language over explosive action spectacles.
