To LOVE-Ru Watch Order: Seasons, Darkness, OVAs and Specials in Order, in order
“To LOVE-Ru, Motto, Darkness and Darkness 2nd in order, with every OVA and special flagged.”
Everything in this franchise starts with a bathtub and an alien princess. The watch order, thankfully, is a lot less chaotic than Rito Yuuki's life. (Fair warning: it's an ecchi comedy, and the OVAs lean even further into the fanservice.)
There are nine titles on Lifehaki, and release order is the order. Four TV seasons carry the story: To LOVE-Ru, Motto To LOVE-Ru, To LOVE-Ru Darkness and To LOVE-Ru Darkness 2nd. The first season ran in 2008, Motto in 2010, Darkness in 2012 and Darkness 2nd in 2015.
So do you need the OVAs? Answer: no. The first OVA run from 2009 and 2010, the Darkness OVAs from 2012 to 2016 and the 2017 Multiplication OVA are all optional. The two Darkness 2nd specials are skippable. Think of them as bonus episodes on a Blu-ray: fun if you want more, never required.
At the end: To LOVE-Ru, Motto, Darkness, then Darkness 2nd. Add the OVAs wherever you like.
