Date A Live Watch Order: Seasons, OVAs, Mayuri Judgment, Date A Bullet and Last Date, in order
“Every Date A Live season, OVA, movie and spin-off in order, with what to skip.”
Saving the world by going on dates is a heavy job, but somebody has to do it, and in this franchise that somebody is Shido Itsuka. The good news: the watch order is a lot simpler than his love life. (I know, low bar.)
Date A Live is mostly a release-order story. Season 1 starts it, Seasons 2 to 5 continue it, and the order below follows the dates they aired. Two things need a heads-up. First, the Mayuri Judgment movie sits between Season 2 and Season 3, and Season 3 continues from it, so don't skip it. Second, the Date A Bullet films are a Kurumi spin-off released in 2020, but this page puts them after Season 4. Why? Answer: their story ties into Kurumi's arc there, and since they're optional, you can drop them without losing the main thread.
The two OVAs (Date to Date and Kurumi Star Festival) are short side stories. Think of them as post-credit scenes: fun if you stick around, no harm if you leave.
One more thing. Date A Live F: Last Date was announced in April 2026 as the final chapter of the anime. It's listed at the end so you know where it fits once it arrives, but it isn't out yet.
At the end: Season 1, Season 2, the Mayuri Judgment movie, Seasons 3 and 4, then Season 5 and the finale when it lands. That's 11 steps and 7 of them are core. Now go save the world, one date at a time.
The early years (2013-2015)
Start here. Shido meets Tohka and joins Ratatoskr, whose mission is to date Spirits and seal their powers. 12 episodes.
A 23-minute OVA from 2013. Light side story, no plot you need.
Direct continuation, with the Yamai sisters and Miku joining the story. 10 episodes.
A 29-minute OVA from 2014 built around Kurumi. A fun extra.
Anime-original film. Season 3 picks up after it, so watch it before III.
The story was written by the original author, Koushi Tachibana, and Season III continues from where it ends. That's why it sits between II and III instead of in the extras.
Seasons 3 and 4 (2019-2022)
Date A Bullet spin-off (2020)
A 24-minute spin-off film. Kurumi wakes with no memory in a deadly battle royale.
The two Date A Bullet films came out in 2020, before Season IV. They're placed after IV because they follow Kurumi and their story ties into her arc in that season. They're optional, so skipping them won't hurt Season V.
A 29-minute follow-up. Kurumi reaches the Ninth Domain.
Season 5 and the finale (2024 onward)
The fifth TV season, and the story heads into its endgame. 12 episodes.
Announced in April 2026 as the final chapter. Not released yet.
This one is made by Studio Fugaku under director Junji Nishimura, a change from Geek Toys on Seasons IV and V. The returning voice cast was confirmed with the announcement.
