Synopsis
Ambition-driven broadcaster Ichitarou Takahashi lands a dream promotion as the primary anchor for a nightly television program. However, his professional pride evaporates when he realizes he has been assigned to World Fool News, an obscure, low-budget news desk notorious for abysmal viewership ratings and utter operational disarray. Flanked by eccentric studio producers, incompetent camera technicians, and unhinged field reporters, Takahashi struggles to maintain journalistic professionalism on air. From bizarre breaking news bulletins and technical blunders to ridiculous guest panel interviews, Takahashi's nightly broadcast spirals into a hilarious exercise in live television survival.
⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Created as an original satirical comedy series directed by Yu Mashimo, *World Fool News* was produced by CoMix Wave Films and broadcast on TV Saitama and Nippon TV in spring 2014. Spanning twelve short-form television episodes, the comedy stood out for its deadpan observational humor, witty dialogue scripts, and insightful parodies of Japanese commercial broadcast media culture. CoMix Wave Films provided expressive character animation and sharp visual gags, earning the cult comedy positive acclaim among late-night television enthusiasts.
