Story

Synopsis

Transferring to a prestigious new high school in the city, ordinary teenager Hayato expects a formal academic environment surrounded by refined classmates. Instead, he crosses paths with Haruki, the school's most popular, breathtakingly elegant beauty. To Hayato's complete astonishment, Haruki is actually his former childhood playmate from the countryside, someone he had spent years assuming was a rambunctious young boy. While Haruki maintains an impeccably poised, polite persona around admiring teachers and classmates, she instantly drops her ladylike facade when alone with Hayato, reverting to the same crass, rough-and-tumble antics from their muddy country days, sparking a hilarious and awkward adolescent romance.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Adapted from the popular romantic comedy light novel series written by Hibari Yunoki and illustrated by Nabeshima Tetsuhiro, this television adaptation was produced by studio Project No.9 for broadcast in 2026. The series charmed romance fans with its comedic identity gap and endearing childhood nostalgia. Featuring crisp character animation and witty banter, the production explores how adolescent expectations clash with genuine past connections, offering a refreshing and playful spin on traditional high school reunion romances across Japanese television.
