Story

Synopsis

The sacred sword Excalibur was forged to choose a singular destined king of Britain, yet a catastrophic dimensional fracture has duplicated the divine blade one million times, creating a million rival Arthurs distorting the timeline. To prevent historical collapse, a clandestine organization dispatches six uniquely gifted Arthurs, leader Dancho, brawler Tekken, sniper Yamaneko, alchemist Renkin, scholar Kakka, and wanderer Ruro. Accompanied by their eccentric fairy guides, this ragtag strike force travels across historical eras, battling rival sword-wielders to systematically locate and shatter every redundant Excalibur.

⚠ Background — may contain spoilers
Adapted from Square Enix's popular massively multiplayer online role-playing mobile game, *Hangyakusei Million Arthur* was animated by J.C.Staff and broadcast in October 2018 under director Youhei Suzuki. The twenty-four-episode action-comedy series leaned heavily into slapstick satire, parodying classic Arthurian mythology and fantasy video game tropes. The anime stood out for its lively banter among the diverse ensemble cast and vibrant battle animation, quickly earning a second broadcast season in spring 2019.
