Story

Synopsis

In a bleak cyberpunk metropolis scarred by a devastating world war, cybernetically augmented cyborgs known as Extended navigate the city's murky underworld. Juuzou Inui is an Over-Extended mercenary whose head was replaced by a massive functional revolver, leaving him with no recollection of his previous identity. Operating as a freelance resolver handling cyborg disputes, his routine turns lethal when a rogue operative hires him to protect Tetsurou Arahabaki, a young boy on the run from the almighty Berühren Corporation. Armed with forbidden remote hacking abilities, the boy becomes the focal point of a dangerous corporate war.

Based on Tasuku Karasuma's gritty sci-fi noir manga serialized in Shueisha's *Ultra Jump*, *No Guns Life* was produced by studio Madhouse and directed by Naoyuki Itou. Featuring series composition by Yukie Sugawara and music by Kenji Kawai, the twelve-episode television series aired in fall 2019. The anime earned praise for its dark retro-futuristic atmosphere, hard-boiled narrative tone, and creative mechanical character designs, which led to a scheduled second cour airing in 2020.
