Story
Synopsis
Serving as the theatrical prequel to the acclaimed anime sequel of Kamen Rider W, this noir detective drama explores the formative origins of hardboiled private eye Shotaro Hidari and his mysterious partner Philip. While investigating a Dopant disturbance in the windy city of Fuuto alongside Tokime, Shotaro reflects back to Begins Night, the fateful evening he first met Philip in a secret Gaia Memory research facility. The narrative highlights Shotaro's legendary mentor, hardboiled detective Sokichi Narumi, who transformed into Kamen Rider Skull to protect Fuuto from organized crime syndicates.

Flashbacks reveal how Sokichi Narumi took the brash, impulsive young Shotaro under his wing, teaching him the moral code of a true detective. During Begins Night, Sokichi and Shotaro infiltrated Museum's underground laboratory to rescue the enigmatic boy Philip. When Museum enforcers ambushed them, Sokichi sacrificed his life, shielding Shotaro with his body while commanding him to take care of Philip and become the hero Fuuto needs. In the present, Shotaro channels Sokichi's enduring spirit, donning his fedora and transforming into Kamen Rider W alongside Philip to defend Fuuto with unyielding resolve.
